Who We Are & What We Believe
The Word of God Baptist Church is a local, autonomous, Bible believing congregation that preaches, teaches, and practices the Biblical principles of a New Testament Church, as the Bible instructs.
The Bible
We believe the Bible to be the inspired, infallible, inerrant Word of God, providentially preserved in the English Authorized King James Version, and as such, is "the holy scriptures" and thereby "given by inspiration of God." (Proverbs 30:5; Psalm 12:6-7; II Timothy 3:15-17)
Jesus Christ
We believe in the Deity of the Lord Jesus Christ, His virgin birth, His vicarious blood atonement on Calvary, His bodily resurrection, and His second coming. (John 1:1; Isaiah 7:14; I John. 2:1-2)
Salvation
We believe salvation is "by grace through faith" in the finished work of Jesus Christ, and "not by works of righteousness which we have done." (Ephesians 2:8-9; Titus 3:5)
Eternal Security
We believe the Bible position that the believer's soul is eternally secure after salvation. (Ephesians 4:30, Romans 8:38-39)
Baptism
We believe that water baptism is for the regenerated believer and is by immersion in water in the name of the Father, Son, and Holy Ghost. (Matthew 28:19)
Church Ordinances
We believe baptism and the Lord's Supper constitute the only two scriptural ordinances for the church, but neither has any saving power (Luke 22:19)
